Four candidates vying for Mayor position in Marion , five seeking the same office in Uniontown

Municipal elections across Perry County are scheduled for Tuesday, August 26, 2025, with polling places open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Voters in both Marion and Uniontown will see competitive races for mayor as well as for nearly every city council seat.
In Marion, four candidates will appear on the ballot for mayor: incumbent Dexter Hinton and challengers Fairest Cureton, Chadrick Moore, and Travis Perkins. Every one of the city’s five council districts also has a contested race.
In District 1, incumbent Jeremy Arrington is being challenged by Janet Cole. District 2 will see incumbent Tommy Kennie face off against Edd Miree and Lakeisha Shaw. District 3 incumbent Charles Sanders is running against Ann Hereford LeCroy. In District 4, Willie Jackson will face a challenge from Vinnie Royster. The race in District 5 features three candidates: Joe Frazer III, Sharon Horton, and Stanley Kennie.
Marion voters will cast ballots at the New National Guard Armory, located at 620 Magnolia Street. Absentee ballot applications sent by mail must have been received by Tuesday, August 19. Hand-delivered absentee applications will be accepted until Thursday, August 21. Emergency absentee ballot requests may be submitted through Monday, August 25. All absentee ballots returned by mail must arrive by noon on Election Day to be counted. Public testing of electronic voting machines was scheduled to take place July 25. Absentee ballots and related supplies became available beginning July 20. Voters casting absentee ballots without proper photo identification will receive provisional ballots, as required under Alabama law.
Uniontown
Uniontown voters will choose from among five candidates in the city’s mayoral race: incumbent Ron Miller and challengers Geneva Watts, Calvin Jordan, Don Moore, and Portia Shepherd.
Every city council district in Uniontown will also see a contested race, except for one. In District 1, Councilman Eddie Ward faces Le Virgil Bell and Fernando Deon Raby. In District 2, incumbent Sherman Norfleet is being challenged by Dudley Long and Timothy Shepherd. District 3 is uncontested, with Cynthia Mims qualifying unopposed. In District 4, incumbent Henrietta Jones is running against Theotis Dudley. District 5 will see incumbent Kimberly Bell face Donald Anderson.
Polling places in Uniontown will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. The same absentee ballot deadlines and procedures apply to all Perry County municipalities.
