Perry Co. Education Retirees recognized for outstanding volunteer service here

The Perry County Education Retirees Association (PCERA) was recently honored for its exceptional dedication to community service. Members of the organization received a ceremonial check representing the monetary value of the hundreds of volunteer hours they’ve contributed throughout the county over the past year.

The check, presented by the Alabama Education Retirees Association (AERA), symbolizes more than just hours logged—it reflects the ongoing commitment of retired educators to uplift and support their communities long after their classroom days are over.

From tutoring students and supporting school programs to assisting local nonprofits and civic groups, PCERA members continue to play a vital role in Perry County life. Their service stands as a powerful example of lifelong dedication to education and community engagement.

PCERA President [Mrs. Velma Essex] shared, “This recognition is a testament to the heart our members bring to everything they do. Even in retirement, our passion for making a difference remains strong.”

As Perry County continues to benefit from their experience and energy, the legacy of these retired educators grows—one volunteer hour at a time.
