Sister Nancy L. Ward, affectionately known to family and friends as “Toull,” was born on October 8, 1947, to the late Annie Augusta Ward and Woodrow Wilson Ward of Greensboro, AL. She passed away on February 9, 2024 at age 76.
A dedicated member of St. Mary Church, she had confessed Christ at an early age and was educated at Hale County Training School. She was revered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend.
Her life was predeceased by her grandson, Kelvin Paige, who was the love of her life, and her siblings: Joyce Masie Holiday, Mary Beverly, Margaret Williams, Willie Gray, Lovell, Larry, Eddie, Woodrow Wilson, Jr., and Leroy Ward.
She is survived by her son, Charles Wayne Thomas of Port Arthur, Texas; one granddaughter, Miracle Thomas of Mississippi; five great-grandchildren, Maleiah Paige, Kelvin Paige, Jr., Kaycee Paige, Kristian Barker, and Ky’lee Barker; one sister, Amy Simms of Newark, NJ; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
The celebration of life for Sister Nancy L. Ward took place on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at 2 p.m. at St. Mary Church. The service was officiated by Pastor Joe Lee Hamilton.
