Jewell Marie Tucker, 84, of Marion died Saturday, September 12, at her residence.
She was born October 24, 1941, in Marion, and spent her life rooted in the community she loved and called home.
She was a Christian woman whose faith was an important part of her life. She was known for her gentle spirit, her kind heart and the quiet strength she carried through every season of life. Those who knew her will remember her warmth, her gracious nature and the way she made others feel welcomed and cared for.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Julian and Marie Tucker, and by her infant sister, Minnie Bernice.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Charlotte and Jim Doss; her nieces, Leah Doss (Bradley) and Julian Morton; her great-niece, Ella Mewbourne; her great-nephew, Julien Ledbetter; and many other relatives and friends.
The family thanks her caregivers, Rita Moore and Mary Payton, for the kindness, compassion and devoted care they gave her during her illness, and everyone who showed her love during her illness and them kindness in their loss.
Visitation was held Tuesday, September 15, from 3 to 4 p.m. at Marion Methodist Church, 110 Washington St., with a memorial service following at 4 p.m.
Melvin Miller Funeral Service of Marion was in charge of arrangements.
