On Saturday, April 1, Black Belt Women Rising, a nonprofit based in Uniontown, held a candlelight vigil at their offices to mark the start of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The purpose of the vigil was the remember victims of sexual assault and reducing stigma around speaking out against sexual assault. Those in attendance included: Jaleesa Albadani from One Place Justice, Joseph Shepard, Barbara Coleman, Brittany Jordan, TaraAurelia Brown, and Shawnteria Winn Sankey, who provided snacks for participants.
