Roddie Mae Witherspoon died July 24 at DCH Northport at the age of 75. She was born Feb. 1, 1947 to the late Charlie Henry and Susie Mae Hatter. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of St. James Baptist Church.
She loved cooking, dancing, and cleaning.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Charles Witherspoon, Sr.; her parents, Charlie Henry and Susie Mae Hatter; two sisters, Alberta Snell and Doris Ann Hatter; two brothers, Charlie Henry Hatter Jr. and Tommy Lee Hatter; and her grandmother, Annie Jimerson.
Survivors include two sons, Randy (Angela) Hatter and Charles (Emma) Witherspoon, Jr. of Moundville; a daughter, Keisha Witherspoon of Moundville; two stepchildren, Mary (Carnell) Powell and Jimmy (Olivia) Lewis of Tuscaloosa; four sisters, Annie Bell (Jimmy) Sewell and Deloris Hatter of Moundville, Lillie Evan of Tuscaloosa, Ruth Wilson of Ypsilanti, Mich., and her loving and special sister, Sherlie Ann Hatter of Moundville; two brothers, Larry Hatter of Tuscaloosa and Sammy Hatter of Livingston; two sisters-in-law, Annie Williams and Rebecca Williams of Moundville; a brother-inlaw, Albert Williams of Moundville; an aunt, Venira Ball Wallace of Livingston; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Graveside services were held Saturday, July 30 at Star of Bethlehem Church Cemetery in Moundville with the Rev. Ricky Wells officiating and Washington and Paige Mortuary directing.
