Jamarian Essex is a Junior at Francis Marion School and this week’s student-athlete of the week. He has been on the cross-country and track team since his 7th grade year. He holds the school record in the 800-meter with a time of 2 minutes and 15 seconds. He made state in both XC and track his 9th and 10thgrade years, which he will do again this year and next year. He’s a hardworking, respectful young man who is understands the importance of education on top of his athletics. He has a 3.2 GPA and takes all honors classes at Francis Marion. He hasn’t made his mind up fully on what is next for him when he graduates in May of 2027, but he has expressed interest in attending Marion Military Institute and competing for their XC/Track and Field team to start off his college career.
