Marion man charged with bringing meth, fentanyl, phones into Bibb County prison

A Perry County resident who worked as an Alabama Department of Corrections officer has been jailed on multiple felony counts after investigators say he tried to bring drugs and a phone into Bibb Correctional Facility.

Court records identify the defendant as Curtis James Green Jr., 24, of Marion. He was arrested Oct. 6 and booked on a $1,000,000 bond. The case is assigned to District Judge Craig Cargile, with a preliminary hearing set for Thursday, Oct. 30, at 10:00 a.m. in Bibb County District Court.

Charges filed include two counts of trafficking in illegal drugs (Alabama Code §13A-12-231), conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance (§13A-12-204), use of official position for personal gain (§36-25-5(a)), and promoting prison contraband in the first and second degrees (§§13A-10-36, -37).

The listed offense date is Oct. 4. Green’s status is listed as “Jail,” and the docket notes no release as of press time.

The arrest followed a prison contraband stop in which staff intercepted a cell phone and quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl, according to materials previously provided by ADOC. Green has since resigned from the department.

The docket shows Kacey Dunn Davis has been appointed to represent Green. On Oct. 9, the defense filed motions for discovery and a speedy trial; the court granted discovery in part and entered an initial-appearance order. A State response to the discovery motion was also docketed.

Green is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
