On Friday morning, the children, families, and staff of Berean Head Start will step out into the community for a meaningful walk around the Perry County Courthouse. Dressed in pink and full of energy, our program will participate in a “Stroll for the Cause” to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month and to show support for survivors, families, and advocates.
The stroll will begin at 10:00 a.m., weather permitting, and will include children, teachers, staff, and family members walking together in solidarity. With guidance and protection from local law enforcement, participants will circle the courthouse square carrying banners, wearing pink, and spreading a message of hope and awareness.
This event is about more than just taking a walk. For the Head Start family, it represents an opportunity to teach even our youngest learners the importance of compassion, community, and standing together for a cause that touches so many lives.
The stroll is part of a series of October activities at Berean Head Start, including a Pink Out Day, refreshments and breast cancer literature for staff and families, and a door decorating contest to keep awareness visible throughout the month.
By getting children involved in age-appropriate ways, the program seeks to plant seeds of empathy and advocacy early on. While the little ones may not fully understand breast cancer, they do understand love, support, and the power of walking together.
Community members are invited to cheer on the children and staff as they take their symbolic steps around the courthouse. For more information about the event or Berean Head Start’s ongoing community activities, please contact the central office at 334-683-9574.
