Uniontown’s runoff will send Ron Miller back to City Hall as Mayor, Long defeats Norfleet in D2 by one vote
Incumbent Marion Mayor Dexter Hinton won Tuesday’s mayoral runoff over Travis Perkins, 673 to 478, according to unofficial totals released by the city. In the council District 2 runoff, Tommy Leon Kennie defeated Edd Miree 167 to 96.
The candidates closed the race on a conciliatory note. Hinton thanked supporters and opponents alike and called for residents to pull together in the weeks ahead. Perkins publicly thanked his voters and said he appreciated everyone who took part in the campaign. Former candidate Chad Moore also posted congratulations to Hinton following the count.
Results remain unofficial until canvassed and certified by the Marion City Council on Sept. 30.

In Uniontown Ron Miller won the mayor’s race runoff over Portia Shepherd, 546 to 481, based on city totals provided Tuesday night.
In council races, Eddie Ward prevailed in District 1 with 135 votes to LeVirgil Bell’s 111, and Dudley Long won District 2 by a single vote, 110 to 109 over Sherman Norfleet. These results are unofficial until canvassed and certified by the city.
