Marion man charged in Hale for assault of healthcare worker

William Edward Tutt Jr., 25, of Marion, was arrested Monday and charged with second-degree assault and discharging a firearm into an occupied building, according to Hale County District Court records.

The charges stem from a December 22, 2024, incident in which Tutt is accused of causing physical injury to a health care worker while the victim was performing their duties. The complaint alleges Tutt intentionally caused the injury “with intent to cause physical injury to a health care worker” while the victim was working in a medical setting.

In a separate count, Tutt is accused of unlawfully discharging a firearm into an occupied building, also with the same victim identified as the person present at the time of the incident.

Judge Timothy Evans set Tutt’s bond at $20,000 following his arrest Monday afternoon. He remains in the Hale County Jail pending further court proceedings.
