Voters in Marion, Uniontown, Moundville will decide runoff contests Tuesday, September 23
Absentee voting deadlines are approaching quickly for municipal runoff elections scheduled across Alabama on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. Applications for absentee ballots must be delivered in person by Thursday, September 18. Absentee ballots returned by hand must arrive at the clerk’s office no later than the close of business on Monday, September 22, while ballots sent by mail must arrive by noon on election day. Applications may be picked up and returned at city hall in each municipality.
Voters will head back to the polls next Tuesday to decide several key local races. In Marion, voters will choose between Dexter Hinton and Travis Perkins for mayor, and between Tommy Leon Kennie and Edd Miree for the District 2 council seat.
Uniontown voters will decide three runoffs: Portia Shepherd and Ron Miller for mayor, Eddie Ward and LeVirgil Bell for the District 1 council seat, and Sherman Norfleet and Dudley Long for the District 2 council seat.
In Hale County, Moundville voters in District 5 will choose their next city council member. Susie Patrick, who led the first round of voting with 24 votes, will face Gwendolyn Patrick, who received 21.
Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on September 23. Unofficial results will be announced that evening, with canvassing to follow in the days afterward.
