Two men have been charged with breaking into FoodValu, Marion’s only grocery store, during a July 9 burglary that caused thousands of dollars in damage and theft.
Quashawn Marquell Parrish, 23, of Marion Junction, and Brandon Jamal Bennett, 22, of Selma, were each arrested on July 22 and charged with third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, and fourth-degree theft of property.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Perry County District Court, the suspects are accused of breaking the front window of the store, located in Marion, and stealing cigarettes and cigars. The complaint states that damages to the property are estimated at over $2,500, bringing the total loss to approximately $3,000.
Court records show both defendants remain in the Perry County Jail with bond set at $18,000 each.
