Marion, Uniontown publish voter lists in this week’s Times-Standard-Herald
The clock is ticking for voters in Uniontown and Marion as deadlines approach for the upcoming municipal elections. Residents had until July 27, 2025, to establish residency and register to vote in the general election, which will be held on Tuesday, August 26. The last day for mayors to deliver absentee ballots and election supplies to municipal clerks was July 29. Absentee ballot applications by mail must be received by August 19, while hand-delivered applications will be accepted until August 21. Emergency absentee ballot requests will be accepted through August 25. All polling places will be open on election day from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Uniontown
Uniontown’s 2025 municipal election will feature contested races for mayor and every city council district except one. Five candidates have qualified to run for mayor, including incumbent Ron Miller, who will face Geneva Watts, Calvin Jordan, Don Moore, and Portia Shepherd. In District 1, Councilman Eddie Ward will be challenged by Le Virgil Bell and Fernando Deon Raby. District 2 will feature a three-way race between incumbent Sherman Norfleet, Dudley Long, and Timothy Shepherd. District 3 is uncontested, with Cynthia Mims qualifying without opposition. In District 4, incumbent Henrietta Jones will face Theotis Dudley. District 5 will see incumbent Kimberly Bell opposed by Donald Anderson.
Marion
The City of Marion’s election will also feature competitive races for mayor and all five city council seats. Four candidates have qualified for the mayoral ballot. Incumbent Dexter Hinton is seeking another term and will be challenged by Fairest Cureton, Chadrick Moore, and Travis Perkins. District 1 incumbent Jeremy Arrington is seeking reelection and will face Janet Cole. In District 2, incumbent Tommy Kennie will run against Edd Miree and Lakeisha Shaw. District 3 incumbent Charles Sanders is being challenged by Ann Hereford LeCroy. District 4 incumbent Willie Jackson will face Vinnie Royster. District 5 will see a threeway race between Joe Frazer III, Sharon Horton, and Stanley Kennie.
Election Timeline
In addition to the voter registration deadline on July 27, sample ballots are scheduled to be posted by July 25, and absentee ballots along with related supplies will be available by July 20. August 11 marks the last day for councils to appoint election officials, and August 12 is the first day for the public testing of electronic voting counters. Election officers and voting places must be published by August 15. Beginning on August 18, absentee applicants who lack acceptable identification will receive provisional ballots. The municipal clerk will inspect and seal voting tabulators by August 25.
Election day on August 26 will run from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with polling officials required to be on site at least 30 minutes before polls open. Absentee ballots returned by mail must be received by noon on election day.
