Thelma Wallace Bamberg

Thelma Wallace Bamberg, 93, went to join her Lord in Heaven on April 28, 2025, at the Bibb County Nursing Home in Centerville, Alabama.

She leaves behind three children, Cecil Edward Bamberg ( Berrie), Harold Wallace Bamberg ( Pamela), and Nancy Elizabeth Bamberg (Douglas Jones), four grandchildren and six great grandchildren, numerous beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, and many treasured close friends.

Born in Selma, Alabama, and raised on a quaint farm in Perry County Alabama, Thelma was the daughter of Harold and Dee Lee Wallace.

Thelma enjoyed accounting and during her lifetime worked at Marion Bank And Trust Company, Marion Rexall Drugs, Walgreen Drugs, and George C Warren Tax Accountancy in Marion.

Thelma loved children and her community. She worked as a substitute teacher at Francis Marion High School for many rewarding years. She not only knew the kids by name, but she also let them know, that she knew their grandparents’ names as well!

In later years, Thelma would sell her family farm and embrace life in Silverhill, Alabama, where she was active in The Master Gardeners Club, and The Ladies Knitting Circle.

A tragic fall would facilitate her move to Georgia in 2012, where she would spend the next 13 years under the watchful eyes of Harold and Pamela Bamberg.

Finally in 2024, Thelma came full circle as she moved back to the place of her heart, Alabama. Thelma will be laid to rest at the side of her beloved parents, at The Heiberger Methodist Church Cemetery.

Services will be held May 10th at Heiberger Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and Services will begin at 11:00AM, under the direction of Pastor Timmothy Craddock.

All are welcomed to attend. Memorial gifts may be made to Heiberger Methodist Church and to their Cemetery Fund.
