A Marion man faces multiple felony charges following a March 17 shooting incident that reportedly endangered community members and damaged property near a local store.
Charles Leon Moore, 43, was arrested April 9 and charged with seven offenses, including discharging a firearm into an occupied building, two counts of discharging a firearm into occupied vehicles, criminal mischief, and reckless endangerment. The charges stem from an incident in which Moore is accused of opening fire near Sawyer’s Store in Marion.
According to a complaint filed in Perry County District Court, Moore allegedly fired a gun into the Sawyer Store while it was occupied by citizens.
He is also accused of shooting into two vehicles. Both vehicles were parked outside the store at the time, and one of them was reportedly occupied.
Authorities say Moore’s gunfire caused property damage exceeding $500 to each of the vehicles, as well as to the building.
One count of reckless endangerment charges Moore with placing community members at substantial risk of injury during the shooting.
As of press time, Moore remains in the Perry County Jail on a combined bond of $88,500.
