On Tuesday, July 11, Herb Jones, professional basketball player, spoke to participants and team members of the Uniontown Parks and Recreation’s Basketball League, weekly practice session.
Jones was accompanied for the visit by his mother, Verlander Jones.
Herb Jones is a player for the New Orleans Pelicans, a team in the National Basketball Association. This follows a career that included playing for the University of Alabama during his college years. Jones is a graduate of Hale County High School.
Jones encouraged local youth, giving them a lesson in sportsmanship. Particularly, he distinguished what makes one a good athlete both on and off the court.
