He was born Feb. 14, 1952 in Tuscaloosa to Clayton Bruce Minter and Willie Bell Minter.
Before he was ten years old, he moved with his family to Hale County. In 1976, me met and married Shirley Fields Minter. This union was blessed with one son, David Bruce Minter, Jr. He was a resident of Sawyerville until his death. He worked for more than 40 years in the roofing industry and retired from Deason Roofing with more than 30 years under his belt with one company.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Bell and Clayton Bruce Minter; brothers, William Caddell, Edward Caddell, and Douglas Minter; sisters, Betty Caddell and Clayton Lawson; and a son, James Curtis Fields.
Survivors include a loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Shirley Minter of Sawyerville; sons, David (Ashley) Gardner of Michigan, David (Latonya) Ball, Clayton (Tabitha) Elliott, and James Elliott, all of Tuscaloosa; David Bruce Minter, Jr. of Sawyerville, and Darnell (Francinic) Wiggins of Prattville; daughters, Pamela Lewis of Sawyerville and Shawndells Woods of Tuscaloosa; two sisters, Ollie (Lovell) Gladney of Tuscaloosa and Mary Minter of Tuscaloosa; three step-sisters, Janice Caddell, Jackie Hoskins and Gloria Hoskins Hambright, all of Greensboro; three sisters- in-law, Ruby Caddell of Michigan, Catherine Caddell of Moundville and Dorothy Minter of Tuscaloosa; two aunts, Rebecca Tubbs of Michigan and Sue Willie Carter of Tennessee; 21 grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 27 at Bass Tabernacle C.M.E. Church in Akron with Elder Paul L. Harton as Eulogist, the Rev. Willie D. Garnett, pastor, and Washington and Paige Mortuary directing.
