The Marion City Council’s public hearing, budget work session and regular meeting, originally set for Monday, Aug. 17, have been postponed and rescheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Marion City Hall.
The evening opens at 5 p.m. with a public hearing on a request for a variance to allow the parking and placement of a mobile home at 102 Mason St. The variance has been requested by Johnny Stevenson, and a second reading of the request is on the council’s agenda for the meeting that follows.
A work session on the city’s 2026-2027 budget will convene immediately after the hearing, with the regular council meeting to follow at 6 p.m.
Also on the agenda are approval of minutes from the July 20 and Aug. 3 meetings, monthly departmental reports, public comments and a premium finance agreement with IPFS Corporation of the South through AMIC covering $140,469 in insurance premiums.
Under the agreement, the city would make a down payment of $14,046.90 and finance the remaining $126,422.10 at a 16.459% annual percentage rate, with a finance charge of $8,827.38 paid over nine monthly payments of $15,027.72.
