Parents who have concerns about a child’s development, learning, speech and language, hearing, vision or other areas can get help through Child Find, and early identification can make a difference, Perry County Schools said this week.
Child Find is a statewide effort by the Alabama State Department of Education and the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services to locate, identify and evaluate children with disabilities from birth to age 21. Early intervention and special education services work with community agencies, parents and local school systems to find children who may qualify for services and to link their families to them.
The program covers hearing, visual, speech and language, intellectual, orthopedic and other health impairments, specific learning disabilities, autism, deaf-blindness, multiple disabilities, traumatic brain injury, emotional disability and developmental delay.
