The Marion City Council meeting that had been scheduled to resume Wednesday, Aug. 26, has been postponed, and council business will now resume Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at Marion City Hall, 123 E. Jefferson Street.
The council’s regular first-Monday meeting date, Sept. 7, falls on the Labor Day holiday, and under the city’s meeting schedule a regular meeting that falls on an observed holiday moves to the following Tuesday.
Sept. 8 will be a full evening at city hall. A public hearing is set for 5 p.m. on a request for a variance to allow the parking and placement of a mobile home at 102 Mason Street, giving interested citizens, neighboring property owners and other affected parties an opportunity to be heard. The hearing will be followed by a work session on the city’s fiscal 2026-27 budget, ahead of the 6 p.m. council meeting.
All council meetings at which a quorum is present and official business is conducted are open to the public. Seating in the council chambers is limited, and the meeting will also be available for public viewing by Zoom.
