On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, all roads led to Perry County as colleagues, community partners, family members, and friends gathered at the Albert Turner Sr. Courthouse Annex to honor the remarkable career and lasting impact of Katrina Easley, County Extension Director with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System.

The celebration marked a significant milestone as Easley prepares to retire effective April 1, 2026, concluding 25 years of dedicated service to the youth and adult citizens of Perry County. The retirement reception served as a heartfelt expression of appreciation for a leader whose work has touched countless lives across the county and beyond.

Katrina’s journey with Alabama Extension began in an administrative support role and evolved over the years into the position of County Extension Director — a testament to her commitment, leadership, and deep understanding of the communities she served.

Throughout her career, she became widely known for leading impactful programs and initiatives including Thriving Communities Initiatives, 4-H Youth Development, Your Money, Your Life, and the Juneteenth Heirs’ Property Program, among many other outreach efforts designed to strengthen individuals, families, and communities.

Under Easley’s leadership, Perry County Extension became a trusted resource and a driving force for education, youth development, financial literacy, and community empowerment. Her ability to connect people, build partnerships, and translate Extension’s mission into meaningful local action earned her the respect of colleagues and community leaders alike.

On behalf of the West Central Region of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, the gathering stood as a collective salute to a County Extension Director, wise colleague, and dear friend. Easley’s legacy is reflected not only in the programs she led, but in the relationships she built and the positive change she inspired throughout Perry County.
