On Friday, November 14, 2025, Goshen Lodge 132 delivered over one thousand canned goods to the Perry County Department of Human Resources to be distributed to those in need of food in Perry County. Cans of ravioli, spaghetti, spam, meats, vegetables, corn, and other nutritious items were donated by the lodge to help those that are facing hunger for various reasons. Marvin G. Bennett, the lodge’s worshipful master, proposed the idea, horrified by the thought of there being even just one hungry child in the world.
The Brothers of the lodge concurred with the Worshipful Master and got busy buying and collecting cans of food. The goal of contributing at least one thousand canned goods was set and thankfully met. After contacting Mrs. Eulonda Russell, the director of the Perry County Department of Human Resources, Worshipful Master Bennett was assured that the food would be distributed to those throughout the Perry County community that are absolutely hurting financially and that are very in need of food.
Bennett is especially grateful for the Brothers’ hard work and dedication, and very appreciative to the Perry County Department of Human Resources; Mr. Benji Friday, owner of Piggly Wiggly, for his store discounts and contributions; and various Perry County Courthouse employees that made contributions as well. The lodge intends to make this an annual event with a larger contribution next year.
