Derrick Jerome Snead, 29, was arrested Tuesday and charged in a March shooting that sent rifle and handgun rounds into an occupied home on Thompson Circle in Marion.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Perry County District Court, the shooting happened in the early morning hours of March 19, 2025, at 120 Thompson Circle. Investigators allege Snead fired multiple .223 rifle rounds and .357-caliber bullets into the residence while “numerous adults and children” were inside and asleep.

Snead is charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied building, reckless endangerment, and second- degree criminal mischief. The complaint states the gunfire created a substantial risk of serious injury to the occupants and caused property damage estimated at more than $500 but not more than $2,500.

The case was filed Tuesday, Oct. 28, and Snead was booked the same day. His bond was set at $42,000. He remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
