The killing came the same weekend Robert C. Hatch High School celebrated homecoming in Uniontown.
With Francis Marion School’s homecoming set for this weekend in Marion, city officials there posted public-safety reminders. The Marion Police Department said officers will be actively patrolling and operating checkpoints, and warned that public intoxication, disorderly conduct, loitering and any illegal activity — including underage drinking or drug use — will not be tolerated. Mayor Dexter Hinton separately noted the city is not affiliated with any private “Class Day Out” gatherings and urged visitors to respect local businesses and residents.
