Perry County Extension Office Promotes Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to honor survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and take action toward prevention and early detection. On Saturday, October 11th, Katrina Easley and the Perry County Extension Office, in partnership with Morningstar Baptist Church, hosted a heartfelt Breast Cancer Awareness Workshop and Walk that brought the community together in a powerful show of support, education, and remembrance.

The event welcomed health educators, breast cancer survivors, and caregivers for an inspiring day focused on early detection, prevention, and the importance of community support in the fight against breast cancer. Attendees participated in informative sessions that emphasized the value of regular screenings and shared personal stories of resilience and hope.

A highlight of the day was the awareness walk, where participants joined in solidarity to honor survivors and remember those who lost their battle with breast cancer. The walk served as a moving tribute and a symbol of strength, faith, and unity.

“We are deeply grateful to everyone who participated and helped make this event a success,” said Katrina Easley, County Extension Director. “Together, we walk in faith, hope, and strength.”

The Perry County Extension Office and Morningstar Baptist Church extend their thanks to all who contributed to this meaningful event, reinforcing the message that awareness saves lives and that no one fights alone.
