A hearing in Sheriff Roy Fikes v. Albert Turner Jr., et al. is set for 1:30 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 9, before Circuit Judge Marvin W. Wiggins. Court notices show the proceeding will run from the upstairs courtroom at the Perry County Courthouse in Marion with a virtual link available.
The clerk’s e-notice, issued Oct. 2 and updated Oct. 3 to add the in-court location confirmed the “virtual hearing” option for participants and witnesses.
Ahead of the hearing, the county’s attorney, Prince Chestnut filed several exhibits that include employee time sheets covering the Sept. 12–25 pay period and a courthouse salary matrix showing step increases by years of service for a range of positions (for example, sheriff’s deputies, jail staff, court and probate clerks, and administrative personnel). The time sheets bear the department head’s signature and list hours worked and days off for named employees; the pay plan lays out annual and hourly rates for county employees, including those in the sheriff’s department.
