A Marion man has been charged with murder in connection with the Sept. 14 shooting death of 21-yearold Jayden Jeffery Tubbs.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Perry County District Court, Michael Williams Jr., 23, is accused of fatally shooting Tubbs with a Glock 26 Gen 4 handgun at approximately 2:05 a.m. within the city limits of Marion. Initial enforcement reports indicate that the shooting occurred while Tubbs was reportedly attempting to break up a fight.
Williams turned himself in to authorities immediately after the incident, according to District Attorney Robert H. Turner Jr. Court records confirm that Williams was arrested the day of the shooting and is being held in the Perry County Jail without bond under Aniah’s Law.
Tubbs was a recent graduate of the welding and trucking programs at Wallace Community College Selma and was preparing to begin work at a trucking company that his father had helped him establish.
Williams is charged under Section 13A-6-2 of the Code of Alabama 1975, which defines murder as causing the death of another person with intent to do so. No initial court date has yet been set for a preliminary hearing.
