Sharon Horton, candidate for Marion City Council, District 5, submitted the following announcement of her candidacy:
“Hello everyone, I’m Sharon Horton. I am a candidate for the Marion city council seat in district 5.
Not all of you know me, but some of you may remember me from my time at the Marion city ballpark where I coached baseball, softball, basketball and soccer, as well as taking care of the ball fields and umpiring games. Some of you know me from selling cars and owning and operating an auto repair business. Those of you who don’t know me now, I look forward to meeting and getting to know.
I am asking for your help and support to elect me. I stand for honesty, integrity and transparency in government and I believe that everyone’s voice is important and should be heard.
We must all work together to improve our city and move forward in these challenging times. I may not solve all the issues facing us, but I will do my best and work the hardest for you.
I am asking for your help and vote on August 26th, to start improving our city. In return I will work my hardest for you and our community.

Remember we will all vote at the new National Guard armory this year.
