Jo Ann Holifield Bush, age 88, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, July 28, 2025.
She was born May 27, 1937 to Joel Benton and Maude Pitts Holifield of Marion, Alabama who preceded her in death, as well as her husband of 52 years, John “Buddy” Bush, and sister Emma Elizabeth “Beth” Bolding.
She touched many lives and made great friends in all the places she worked and lived in including Tuscaloosa, Warner Robins GA, Wichita KS, Mobile, Huntsville, and her childhood home in Marion, AL. She retired from Warner Robins City Hall.
Family and friends will remember her for her kindness, generosity, and delightful sense of humor. She brightened the lives of all who knew her.
She is survived by her two daughters, Leslie Bush Ferguson of Tuscaloosa and Jennifer Bush Chaney (Todd) of Goldsboro, North Carolina; her three grandchildren, John Thompson (Amanda), Caroline Stewart (Joshua) and Joseph Chaney (Kaitlyn); great-grandchild, Riggs Stewart. Jo Ann is also survived by her brother Ben Holifield (Donna) of Opelika, Alabama, and a host of beloved nieces and nephews, brother, and sisters-in-law.
The family would like to thank her dedicated caregivers, Betty Lawson and Tammy Daigle and acknowledge the kindness of her former Mallard Creek neighbors, the Turners, Hunts, Gibsons and Dunhams.
A private family service was held at Magnolia Chapel Mausoleum on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at11:00 am. A visitation was held at 1236 Mallard Circle on July 31, 2025 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
