Ms. Bernice (Bee) Lapsley Kynard was born October 9, 1941, in Marion, Alabama to Myles Lapsley and reared by Walta Mae Lapsley Parker. She confessed Christ at an early age. She became and remained an active member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church until her timely death. She worked tirelessly at the Perry County Nursing home for more than 40 years.
Bernice ascended into Heaven on June 14, 2025, at Druid City Hospital in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at the age of 83. She leaves behind her sweet legacy, laughter, love and memories. She was known for her compassion and warm open arms to everyone who met her.
Bernice was preceded in death by her father Myles Lapsley, mother Walta Mae Lapsley Parker; daughter Gertrude Kynard Hogan, son Timothy Kynard, brother Willie Williams, Lee Andrew Parker, sisters Althea Cureton, Mary Grove, Dorthy Hogue, Ethel Tubbs, Maggie Lapsley, granddaughter Makayla Perkins, great granddaughters Madison Sims, Mayflower Story Bates Easley, Clover Grace Evans Pierce, great grand-son December Easley and God grandson Tyrone Green.
Bernice leaves to cherish her loving memories, her worker bee’s (daughters) Amanda Kynard, Zondia (Jeffery) Easley, Arthurita (Bobby) Smith, Latracey (Clifton) Russell, Tuska Kynard and Lashondra “Boodie” Kynard (all of Alabama) 16 Grandchildren Oliver Lewis, Shontae, Tamara, Searria (Jaleen), Wesley Stephon, Jeffery Maurice, Emily, Shaquille, Justin, Jaylin, Desean, Alisson, JaVeon, Keltric, Shadiamond, JaMar and 20 great grandchildren.
Bernice is mourned by her brothers Willie (Pauline) Parker, Clevie (Florence) Parker, Lovell (Debra) Lapsley, Jimmy Parker, Mitchell Anderson, Ernest Anderson and Charles Lapsley (all of Alabama), her sisters Margurite Anderson (Alabama) Orthia (Eddie) Willborn (Mississippi) Charlie Mae Kynard (Illinois) and Deloris Parker (Marion) Also leaves to cherish, two special nephews, Bob Williams, Willie “Bill” Lapsley, special niece Jessie Hollis, special cousin Mrs. Walta Mae Kennie, special friend Mrs. Shirley Kynard Hatch, bonus daughters Tiffany Wright, Shavon Lapsley- Williams and Orthia Herring, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life was held Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 1 PM at New Oak Grove Baptist Church. Interment immediately followed in DeYampert Cemetery.
