4-H competition

On April 25, 2025, Fredrick Lawson Jr. earned a second-place ribbon in the Freestyle Showcase at the 4-H Competitive Events Day, held on the campus of Wallace Community College in Selma. His creative entry captured the attention of judges and attendees alike for its originality and craftsmanship. Lawson is an area 4-H member from Perry County.

Fredrick’s winning piece was a design made entirely of cotton, depicting a charming rabbit family adorned with colorful Hawaiian leis. Each lei featured a unique combination of vibrant hues, symbolizing unity and celebration— an artistic touch that highlighted both skill and cultural creativity.

The Freestyle Showcase is one of the most anticipated events during 4-H Competitive Events Day, providing young participants a chance to express themselves through art, design, and performance. Fredrick’s cotton creation stood out among a competitive field, reflecting his imagination and attention to detail.
