Southern Academy’s Class of 2025 — Valedictorian John Hamner Lewis and Salutatorian Margaret “Marti” Claire Plummer led this year’s graduating class. Honor students included Layne Etheridge, Brittney Faith Flowers, Robert Drake Gilbert, Dixon Thomas Green, Feebe Lynn Hodge, Jeremiah Macon Houston, Veronica Reese Kehrer, Mary Annsleigh Kirk, Laura Rushing Kyser, Sawyer Ryland Lindsey, Olivia Paige Mosley, Anna Camille Nichols, Sarah-Elizabeth Barnes Parten, Marie Cassidy Plummer, John Morgan Rinehart, Caden Lane Skelton, Kennedy Taylor Thomas, and Evie Leigh Walton. Additional candidates for graduation were Makenzie Jade Agee, Mary Julia Barton, Nicholas Lawrence Bott, Montana Leigh Christmas, Landon Brett Cole, Emma Kay Collins, Caroline Reid Cooper, Margaret Lewis Cooper, Ellen Marie Eddins, and William Allen Edwards. The class officers were President Laura Kyser, Vice President Hamner Lewis, Secretary Reid Cooper, and Chaplain Margaret Cooper. The class flower was the white rose, the colors were pearl and navy, and their motto was “What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us.” Graduation was held Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at the school.
