A high-tech “connected” classroom, the first of its kind in a rural community, is now in use at R.C Hatch High School. The room was designed to bridge the digital divide and bring the tools of tomorrow to today’s students. The classroom is powered by Apple technologies and features individual and group stations. AI cameras, iPad Pros, noise-canceling headphones, and a Bose sound system are just some of the innovative technologies available in the state-of-theart classroom. Machinelearning, coding, 3D printing, podcasting, and AI science are some of the pursuits that will now be available to the students of R.C Hatch. Dr. Marcia Smiley, Perry County Schools Superintendent, said, “We are so excited for this opportunity for our scholars. Being in a rural community, we often say that opportunities are limited. This has opened up endless possibilities.” Birmingham non-profit Ed Farms designed and built the new lab.
