Francis Marion alumnus is named new school principal

The Perry County Board of Education has named Demetrice Jackson as the new principal of Francis Marion School for the 2025-2026 school year. A 2002 graduate of Francis Marion, Jackson has more than seventeen years of experience as an educator, coach, athletic director, and school leader in the state of Alabama.

Jackson’s most recent position was 11th grade Principal and Athletic Director at Johnson Abernathy Gaetz High School in Montgomery. He has previously held positions as Physical Education teacher and Coach at Ridgecrest Elementary and Russell County Middle School. He also served as Head Football Coach and Athletic Director at Linden High School. Jackson has also taught and coached at Brantley High School, Anniston High School, and Selma High School.

Jackson has an Education Specialist degree, a Master of Science in Instructional Leadership from Jacksonville State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Miles College.
