Birmingham SBA field office to hold sessions to help small businesses in May and June

The U.S. Small Business Administration’s Alabama District Office will host a new three-part initiative aimed at helping small business owners become “lender ready” — a key step in securing funding for their enterprises. The inperson event series kicks off Wednesday, May 28, at the SBA’s Birmingham office.

The first session, “Are You Lender Ready” Workshop, will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on May 28 at the Alabama District Office (2 20th Street North, Suite 325, Birmingham, AL 35203). The two-hour session will guide participants through the fundamentals of applying for business loans, including understanding the impact of personal and business credit, assembling required documents, and preparing a strong lender pitch. Multiple workshop sessions will be available.

Later that same day, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., the “Lender Ready” Panel Discussion will bring together representatives from several financial institutions to discuss current trends and strategies in small business lending. Panelists will offer insights into both SBA-backed and traditional lending programs and share practical tips for entrepreneurs preparing to seek financing.

The final event in the series, “Networking with Lenders,” will take place Tuesday, June 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the 3rd Floor Conference Center at the same Birmingham address. Tailored to established businesses with two or more years of operations, the event will allow attendees to meet one-on-one with lenders in short appointments to discuss their funding needs. Business owners are encouraged to bring their business plans, financial statements, and loan pitches. Space is limited, and registration is required in advance.
