BBCF announces grants for four Perry County nonprofit organizations’ missions

The Perry County chapter of the Black Belt Community Foundation has announced the recipients of its 2024 grant awards here. The chapter, led by ten Perry County residents from Marion and Uniontown, takes part in the community- based, nonprofit organization’s aims to support initiatives that benefit communities throughout the Black Belt region.

Grants from the foundation are awarded in two categories: Arts and Community Investment. To be eligible, applicants must have a 501-c nonprofit organization or a financial agent with a valid nonprofit status with the IRS.

This year, 11 applications were submitted, and four applicants were approved for grants totaling $20,000. The selected recipients are: Project Horseshoe Farms, Marion Center, Project Grace, Erwin Dudley Foundation, and CHOICE, Inc.

The Blackbelt Foundation, the parent organization located in Selma, Alabama, has invested over $50 million across the 10 Blackbelt counties.

The Alabama-based foundation aims to build a civic marketplace by supporting programs that address residents’ needs, including civic engagement, leadership development, community and economic development, the arts, kindergarten through college education, as well as health and wellness.
