Annie M. Hunter, affectionately known as “BaBa,” of Sawyerville, Alabama, passed away on March 29, 2025, at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Sawyerville, where she lay in state one hour prior to the service. Pastor Frank Lyles officiated. Interment followed at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born June 20, 1940, Ms. Hunter was the eldest of ten children born to Woodrow and Lillian B. Hunter. She confessed Christ at an early age and remained a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, serving as secretary for many years, singing in the choir, and serving on the Usher Board.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her oldest son, Darrell D. Hunter; and her brothers, Woodrow “June” Hunter, Joshua “Bro.” Hunter, Willie James Hunter, and Clarence “Cannon Ball” Hunter.
She is survived by her son, Wayne Hunter of Sawyerville; sisters, Cora H. Fields of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Geraldine “Dean” Hunter of Sawyerville; brothers, Curtis Hunter of Sawyerville and Walter (Eleanora) Hunter of Tuscaloosa; sister- in-law, Jean Hunter of Tuscaloosa; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, greatnephews, other relatives, and many devoted friends.
