Free autism training workshop will be Thurs., March 13 at Perry Co. Courthouse

The University of South Alabama Regional Autism Network (USARAN) and the Alfred G. Adams, Jr. Optimist Club of Perry County are offering a free in-person workshop for families and professionals on identifying community resources about autism.

The workshop will be offered in Marion at the Perry County Courthouse on Thursday, Mar. 13 from 4-6 p.m.

Michelle McDaniel, director of USARAN, will be sharing information for both professionals and caregivers about agencies, organizations and programs that offer resources for those with autism. From general information to free training, grants, and direct services, participants will leave with a better understanding of what is available.

She said the training is important because of the increasing need for autismrelated training and resources for both families and professionals in the rural communities of our state.

“The Regional Autism Network serves the entire state of Alabama, including our most rural areas,” McDaniel said. “We want to ensure that all individuals with autism and their loved ones feel confident in knowing where and how to access the resources available to them.”
