Uniontown woman charged with attempted murder Dec. 16

Zane’bia Mache’li Mayo, 22, of Uniontown was arrested Monday, Dec. 16, 2024, on charges of attempted murder and second-degree domestic violence after an alleged incident early Sunday morning in Uniontown.

According to a complaint filed in the Perry County District Court, Mayo is accused of striking a male victime with a gray 2023 Ford Mustang. The incident occurred at approximately 12:17 a.m. on Dec. 15 at 71 Theta Lane. Court records indicate the victim was the father of Mayo’s child. After the collision, Mayo allegedly fled the scene.

Mayo faces a felony charge of attempted murder under Section 13A-4-2 of the Alabama Code and second-degree domestic violence involving first-degree criminal mischief. The complaint states the damage inflicted exceeded $2,500, involving both the Mustang and a red 2007 Honda Accord belonging to Anderson.

The Uniontown Police Department filed the report, with Chief J. Allen listed as the complainant. Mayo was taken into custody on Dec. 16, and her bond was set at $15,000. She was later released the same day.
