Inaugural community track meet held in Marion November 16

Owen Thurber

On November 16, Coach John Bolding and the Francis Marion Running Rams hosted the first ever Marion Community Track Meet as an event to bring the community together for fun and to raise funds for the upcoming track season. The event was hosted at the Marion Military Institute track. Around 40 individuals participated in track and field events including the 100M, 200M, 400M, 800M, 1600M, 4x100M relay, javelin, and long jump. Participants ranged from ages as young as 4 years old to over 40 years old. Participants came from all around to include high schoolers from Bibb County, Hatch, and Hillcrest. The event culminated with the top 3 in each event and age division receiving medals they could take home to show off to all their friends and family. Overall, all participants, spectators, and volunteers had a blast and are looking forward to the next time this event will be hosted. Make sure you’re there next time too!
