A Tuscaloosa resident has been arrested this week on charges of escape in Hale County, and on numerous counts of attempted murder and first-degree robbery in Perry County.
Javeyion Keshun Myers, age 20, of 8200 Old Marion Road in Tuscaloosa, was initially arrested in Hale County on Oct. 24 on the escape charges. The criminal complaint against Myers in that incident alleges that he attempted to escape from the custody of State Trooper Reako Long in south Hale County, near the intersection of Alabama Highway 25 and County Road 16, at around 12:00 midnight on October 23. His bond in that case was set at $5,000.00.
The following day, Oct. 25, court documents indicate that Perry County Sheriff Billy Jones served an arrest warrant on Myers for two counts of first-degree robbery, three counts of attempted murder, and one count of discharging a gun into an occupied building/ vehicle. The criminal complaint in that case alleges that Myers shot at three people in the course of a robbery in Uniontown in the early morning hours of Sept. 20. A warrant on those charges had been issued for Myers by Perry County on Sept. 21 and remained outstanding until his arrest in Hale County this week.
Court documents indicate that Myers is in the custody of the Perry County Detention Center on the charges. Documents indicate that Myers has been denied bond on the Perry County charges under Aniah’s Law, which was enacted in Alabama last year and allows courts to deny bond for individuals accused of certain violent crimes in the interest of public safety.
