The Market Street Jazz Band will perform at the historic Greensboro Opera House this Sunday, August 6, at 3:00 p.m., with doors opening at 2:30. This will be the fifth event in the Opera House’s “Encore 2023” Series, celebrating the 120th anniversary of the Opera House as well as Greensboro’s bicentennial.
The Market Street Jazz Band is a popular community band from Demopolis. It formed about five years ago when founder Richard Grecu asked a couple of friends if they would be interested in forming a band. They agreed and recruited a couple of other musicians to join them. Those five people were the start of the band, which has since grown to nine musicians. The band has performed at Christmas on the River every year since they formed, as well as at a variety of events and venues in Demopolis and throughout the area.
The Greensboro Opera House is delighted to host a performance of this band in Greensboro and invites everyone to join them for an exciting afternoon of jazz.
