On Tuesday, April 4, the Bennett Book Shoppe will be hosting a book signing with Dr. K. Renee for her children’s book Different Us!
A Marion resident, the community is invited to meet with the author as she presents her recent publication. The Bennett Book Shoppe is located in the Wilbourne building in downtown Marion, acting also as the Marion Art Center and headquarters for the nonprofit Main Street Marion.
Dr. Renee’s book centers on a group of friends, dubbed by schoolmates “The Odd Squad”, as they navigate their fifth grade school year. The four friends—Maliyah, Jacob, Sarah, and Samson—all have unique qualities that become a source for teasing and bullying among their classmates. This, in turn, brings the group of friends together as they learn to embrace their differences. The book includes lessons on diversity and acceptance.
The book signing and author presentation for Different Us!, begins at 10 AM and ends at 12 noon at 314 Washington Street. Schools and organizations are invited to this community event.
