The 58th Annual Jimmie Lee Jackson Day Program will be on February 19, at 2PM. The event will be held at the Marion Baptist Academy on Centreville Street in Marion and is presented by the Perry County Civic League. Johnnie McAlpine, former superintendent of Perry County Schools, will serve as the Grand Marshall. The featured speaker for the program will be Jesse Jackson, Jr., (pictured above) former United States Representative from Illinois’s 2nd congressional district and son of the Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. Former students of the Lincoln Normal School will be awarded gold medals on the occasion to mark the addition of Lincoln Normal School to the National Register of Historic Places.
