The Town of Thomaston will be host to a Watermelon Festival on June 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event will be held at the old Marengo County High School building, located at 21461 Range St. in Thomaston. The festival has been organized to help promote and raise funds for the refurbishment of the historic Marengo County High School building, which was built in 1909. Organizers noted that last year’s festival paid for the building’s termite bond, and the first U.S.D.A. grant for the project was submitted in February of this year.
There will be free watermelon for guests to enjoy, and some available for purchase, as well.
Vendors should note that a 15×15 space for the festival is only $40. Contact Connie Willamor, festival coordinator, at 251-767-7648 or by email at ThomastonHF@aol.com for more information.
