An Assistant District Attorney was ejected from a hearing and charged with contempt of court in Perry County on Wednesday, April 20. Michael Caddell, an assistant D.A. for the Alabama Fourth Judicial Circuit, was representing the state in a pretrial hearing on the case of Aldonte Jaquan Banks.
Banks, of Uniontown, is charged with murder in the shooting death of 25-year-old Jimmie Rembert, Jr. in Uniontown last June. Banks escaped from the Perry County Jail twice in two days last September.
Perry County District Judge Robert Bryant issued a bench warrant during the Zoom hearing in Perry County District Court on Wednesday after witnesses say the judge warned Cadell about his behavior. The warrant ordered Caddell to be picked up on the charges and jailed for three days.
District Attorney Michael Jackson of the Fourth Judicial Circuit, confirmed the incident on Thursday. He said Caddell, his assistant D.A., was heated because of the nature of the case and let his frustration get the better of him.
“He was angry about this case,” said Jackson.
