Lillian Spencer Compton Webb, age 94, of Greensboro, died at DCH on Monday, March 28, 2022. She was born on March 13, 1928, in Dumfries, Scotland, but grew up in Luton, England, graduating from high school at the age of 14. The family has requested private services with Magnolia Chapel South directing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Frederick Arthur Spencer and Susannah Linden Spencer of Luton, England, her first husband, Benjamin Taylor Compton and her second husband Otto Webb, Jr., a grandson, Taylor Lane Compton, and a special friend of the family, Sandra Stone. Lillian met Benjamin Taylor Compton while he was in service during WWII. They married April 6, 1945. After waiting a year, she came to the United States on the Queen Mary. Lillian became a naturalized citizen in Mobile, AL, on May 1, 1951.
After spending many years as a housewife, Lillian later worked for the Hale County Board of Education as a teacher’s aide. As an avid cook, she spent many hours perfecting her pound cakes only to give them away to family and friends. Saturdays were planned around Alabama football. Charlie, her Yorkie, was the love of her life.
Survivors are her three children: Michael T. Compton (Nancy), Susan C. Forest, and David C. Compton (Mary): five grandchildren: Andrea C. Suttle, Tracy D. Richards, Cade Compton, Brennan Compton, and David Broussard; and four-great grandsons: Dylan Suttle, Compton Suttle, Colt Broussard, and Charlie Broussard; and a special friend, Dornia Thomas.
