Lizzie Dell “Baby Sister” Hutchinson died March 2 at the age of 87. She was born May 11, 1934 to Lucille and Sydney Hutchinson, Sr. in Greensboro.
She confessed Christ at Salem Baptist Church and proceeded to be a very faithful member of the Sunday school and church. She was a very kindhearted, loving and giving person who will be deeply missed.
She is preceded death by her mother, Lucille Hutchinson; father, Sydney Hutchinson Sr.; sister, Jackie McKenzie (Dollie B.); two brothers, Willie Hutchinson (Dick) and James Hutchinson (Train).
She graduated from Hale County Training School and worked at her parents’ restaurant in Greensboro, Sid’s Cafe, as a cook. She later moved to Huntsville and continued her working career at the Diane Shop (a clothing store at Parkway City Shopping Center), as an elevator operator in a downtown department store, and at Sid’s Tailoring Shop (owned by her brother, Sydney Hutchinson).
Survivors include a devoted family; daughter, Patricia H. Martin of Lilburn, Georgia; grandson, DeShannon K. Martin of Conway Arkansas; brother, Sydney Hutchinson of Lumberton, N.C.; sister, Cleopatria Hill of Cleveland; as well as nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.
Graveside services were held Friday, March 11 at Salem Baptist Church in Greensboro with the Rev. Kyle Horn as church pastor and the Rev. Sydney Diane White officiating and Washington and Paige Mortuary directing.
